About Lorraine

Lorraine received her early training in Leicester as a chorister and later in the Leicester school's special choir, gaining a scholarship to further her studies. She studied music at St Peter’s College of Education and Bristol University.

Her teachers include Norma Burrows, Professor G Mantle-Childe and Gwen Annear. Lorraine is a member of the Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS) and a member of the British Voice Association (BVA). Recent qualifications include Post Graduate Certificate (Level 7) in Applied Professional Practice specialising in vocal pedagogy at the Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Lady Billows – ‘Albert Herring- Britten.
Lorraine is an experienced recitalist especially in Italian, German, French and Spanish as well as 20th century English and standard oratorio repertoire. She is a founding member of Spanish Renaissance group ‘Tamburrini’ performing in Early Music Festivals in Brighton, London and Bath.
Lorraine has trained award-winning choirs for festivals and competitions including BBC Choir of the Year.

Teaching methods:

With over 25 years of teaching experience, and being a current member of BVA (British Voice Association), AOTOS (Association of Teachers of Singing), Lorraine incorporates the established teaching methods of ‘Bel Canto’ as well as ‘Estill’, ‘Core’ and ‘Alexander Techniques’ keeping up to date with modern ideas and research.

Accreditations: LRSM (Performers) and ISM Registered Private Teacher, Certificate in vocal pedagogy level 1 & 2 at Masters level 2016, Current Enhanced CRB.

Current employment: Bristol Cathedral Choir School, Backwell Secondary School-Private practice
